About the Association of LGBT+ Pride in Education

The Association of Network Managers in Education was started in April 2014 by two school network managers who had worked in schools for over 20 years. After their local Network Manager meetings outgrew their conference facilities, the need arose to arrange more suitable venues, making the meetings available to more network managers, covering a wider area.

Almost five years later, the ANME launched the ADME - the Association of Data Managers in Education, for Data Managers and Data Protection Officers, and then the ASOE - the Association of Safeguarding Officers in Education, for Safeguarding Officers and Designated Safeguarding Leads.

Run on a voluntary basis by Rick Cowell the ALPE will run as part of the ANME Group, with the same aims and values, providing a private and anonymous forum for its members.

The ALPE is free to join, and is open to all LGBT+ teachers and support staff employed in all sectors of education in the UK - primary, secondary, colleges, or universities, and whether state, academies, independent or free schools.

Testimonials from Members & Partners

  • Having an online support group such as the ALPE is a much needed place for the benefit of anyone who's LGBT+ working in education. It gives a space to raise questions, issues and to get guidance from others in a safe, non-judgemental and welcoming environment, all without fear of discrimination or prejudice.
